Things are starting to come together for Rationalist Week. We've been busy planning, ordering and buying things and more exciting, things are starting to turn up.

I've just had an email letting me know that they have dispatched the megaphone so that should be here on Monday we should have a lot of other stuff arriving next week too.

The downside being that currently I have 12 stackable chairs and 3 tables in my room. It's a good job I have a fair bit of space!

The email problems have now been resolved. The error was traced down to a problem with the DNS config file on the server and all email is now being delivered correctly again.

I can't exactly tell but we appear to be suffering from some kind of email problem - no emails seem to be arriving in our inbox. Facebook me or use my personal email address for the moment, I'll keep you updated.

Hmm, well while our fund rasier was a wicked night, it didn't actually raise any money. Thanks to everyone who attended (that was basically none of you). Luckily, there were plenty of non-society members willing to turn up.

The details have been unveiled - Rationalist Week 2007 is on! Check out the page for a full timetable of events (or at least our provisional timetable for events), there are plenty of them.

We're planning to hold somewhere in the region of a dozen events during the week including the much anticipated debate with the Christian Union.

Well, almost. We're not in the A to Z list for some reason but if you go to the faith and culture section you can now find us listed. Or just follow the link to our page :).

I've been working hard on improving the website. Notably a new blog - this one is just within the Leeds sub-domain and integrated with the rest of our site. All the posts have been ported over.

Recently I've also added web links section, a documents section, some streaming videos and a media coverage section.

I'd just like to thank everyone who came down to the launch party last night. We got a good number of people who were interested on the society and we didn't trash the place so we got our deposit back and everything ;).

On Saturday I discovered that there was a societies fair running today and tomorrow. Without any chance to sort anything out given nobody would be around over the weekend and I was working both days anyway it presented somewhat of a tricky situation. Luckily, thanks to me just randomly turning up we managed to get a table and promoting the society.

I say randomly, some planning went into it. I went to all the effort of buying some canes on Sunday and transporting them over to uni Sunday night (technically Monday morning) only to find when I got there that canes were being provided. After getting a little under four hours sleep I set forth and arrived in time to grab a table next to Mr. O'Shea's recently formed Jazz & Blues Society.

We got some quite good interest in the society. Nothing major but a handful of mailing list sign-ups and some paid members too which is good as I wasn’t really expecting much, it was more about making sure we were there and letting people know that we now actually existed. I've also set up a meeting with the faith and cultures development rep which should be interesting.

We will be back down at the societies fair tomorrow from 10am-4pm if anyone wants to come down and have a chat with us. Don't forget that it's the launch party in the evening too - it's going to be a long day :D.

It's hard to believe it's only three days until the launch party. As ever we are rushing round at the last minute trying to organise things (sign of not being as well prepared as possible but don't pretend you would be any more prepared :p). We've started to heavily promote it though so hopefully we should get a decent enough turn out. Make sure you're there!
